Well, we finally admit it: we have a crush on BeautifulStranger.tv. As simply as that. Their press release was one of the first articles published at this site and now we managed to get the interview from one of co-founders, Abby Wallach.

W-WomenGlobally: what is BeautifulStranger.tv?

Abby Wallach, BeautifulStranger.tv, co-founder: Beautiful Stranger.tv is an online media brand that selects everyday people with exceptional fashion sense and features them as ‘stars’ in a 30-second video online. We find out what these stylish consumers are using, loving, wearing, listening to on their ipods and how they are going green. We then link to every product and service that they mention. We have distribution deals with You Tube, Soapnet.com, My Space and Glam.com.

W-WG: Who are the founders?

AW: Beautiful Stranger.tv is the brainchild of television and magazine industry veterans Melissa Fedor (WWD, W, Glamour, InStyle and Real Simple) and me – Abby Wallach (Moscow Circus, Showtime Networks Inc., Nederlander Television & Film).

W-WG: How did you get the idea of your site? When it all started? Why?

AW: Melissa and I have been partners for over 12 years with a vision to merge magazine content and television programming to lead the consumer to shop online. We created the idea for Beautiful Stranger.tv eight years ago. As technology has evolved we realized the opportunity to launch online and on a multimedia platform including, internet, mobile, television. Since our launch we have been mentioned in WWD, Style.com, Wall Street Journal, Business Wire, FlyGirl.com, College Candy, Tilzy TV among many others.

W-WG: Who is your target group? Are you operating locally or internationally?

AW: We are an online media brand that is targeted to 18 – 35 but also on the fringe. We are local and global in reach because we stop many beautiful strangers from all over the world. We are viewed in over 96 countries and territories.

AW: Our mission is to be a brand that consumers all over the world want turn to for the latest street style and information from trendsetters and tastemakers. Our goal is to be a global media brand.

W-WG: What is your source of inspiration?

AW: We are inspired everyday by the people on the street that share with us their information. We are inspired by listening to these consumers about how they are spending there time, free time fun and more. We are also inspired by the media industry and the people we work with in the beauty, fashion and lifestyle industry. It is alway evolving, changing and growing. We are also inspired by our children. They are huge fans of Beautiful Stranger and they are always giving us ideas.

W-WG: What are your plans for the future? Where do you think you and your brand will be in 5 years from now?

AW: We are building Beautiful Stranger.tv and hope to expand on a local and global level. We are positioning the company as the leading street style brand that offers the consumer the ultimate service of information and entertainment. Our hope is that the brand will grow and be a success all over the world where people will submit their pictures and share their look, style and information with our audience.
